SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO-AM) After surveying residential streets earlier this week, the Public Works Street Division is plowing all neighborhood streets. No snow alert will be issued, and vehicles are NOT being ticketed or towed. Snow removal on residential streets is approximately 70 percent complete, and all neighborhood streets are expected to be plowed by the end of the day on Friday, December 20. If your street has not been plowed, we encourage you not to park on your street until the plows have cleared it.
“The city has experienced four minor snow events since we last declared a snow alert, and accumulations were adding up on neighborhood streets,” says Galynn Huber, Street and Fleet Operations Manager. “We were hoping the warmer weather would melt a lot of it off, but that didn’t happen in some areas. Our goal is to ensure the roads are safe for daily travel and for those coming into town over the holidays.”
The City would like to remind residents that snow gates have not been rolled out citywide. The use of snow gates citywide will be decided by the citizens when they vote on the issue on April 8, 2014.
