SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) National Walking day is a week from today highlighting how physical activity improves your heart.
Chrissy Meyers with the American Heart Association says it’s a reminder to get up and move. Meyer says physical inactivity doubles the risk of heart disease.
The movement focuses on walking because it's accessible, free and has the lowest dropout rate of any type of exercise.
Meyers encourages everyone to wear sneakers to work Wednesday, April 2. Find opportunities to get in extra steps-do a walking meeting, park further away or take a walk to lunch.
